Why not change the conventional way that “plastic is molded first and then painted”?
Our “Self-Healing Clear™” for In-mold coating can form coatings on the surface of a product simultaneously with the product molded inside of a molding die.
We challenge conventional wisdom of manufacturing processes and realize higher value-added outcomes as well as greater efficiency.
In-mold coating provides three benefits:
Shortening the coating processes
In-mold coating allows you to omit many of the steps that required for conventional plastic coating, such as cleaning, primer coating and drying. Also, this method can reduce the number of defective products because products are painted in a sealed mold which prevents dust to contaminate.
Saving energy
In addition to reducing energy consumption through shorter production cycles, In-mold coating produces no VOC by using Solvent-Free paint. Furthermore, since it cures the paint by using the heat generated during injection molding, no drying process is required.
This enables you to significantly reduce energy consumption and to lower environmental impact throughout production.
High Quality Coating Technology
The surface of the coating replicates the shape of the mold.
Using a textured mold produces a low-gloss finish, while using a mirror mold achieves a beautiful high-gloss finish.
It delivers a beautiful finish regardless of environmental conditions.
~NATOCO’s unique technology, “Self-Healing Clear™,” adds products high quality~
We offer “Self-Healing Clear™,” a solvent-free, two-component urethane coating designed for this in-mold coating system.
Self-healing that makes scrapes disappear
This clear coat restores itself in seconds, even after daily scratches.
High durability
It boasts excellent scratch and chemical resistance, withstands exposure to chemicals such as sunscreen, and protects the product’s beautiful appearance for a long time.
“In-Mold Coating (IMC)” can be applied not only to the mobility sector but also to a wide range of plastic products—such as home appliances, communication devices, and housing fixtures—where both aesthetic appeal and high durability are required.
This is a next-generation coating process that simultaneously delivers environmental sustainability, dramatic improvements in production efficiency, and the new added value of “self-healing”.
